Changetree and Psychotherapy Devon also produces Fast Forward Films a therapeutic participatory video approach to film production.
For the past seven years we have been producing therapeutic training videos and podcasts for the Association of Family Therapy and for leading international couple and systemic family therapy practitioners.
Production teams, made up of project participants, are trained onsite and are supported throughout to share insight and understanding of the issues they face.
The video making process alongside a skilled psychotherapist provides a unique subjective and objective focus. Stepping back and zooming In to problems and issues enables insight and shared meaning.

“Fast Forward Films have recently worked with our organisation to produce 4 films. Those participating in the project were deeply moved and challenged to consider their individual experience. The films portray their message in an artful and captivating manner that has positively impacted the intended audience — I highly recommend Martin for his extremely creative film work and the use of this medium to explore the human experience as an individual and society. He is a truly gifted, caring and professional individual.” M.M Emmaus. Linkedin recommendation

“My life has been a pretty bad. Making this film has allowed me see that I do have something of real value to give back to society and I’m not just worthless. I hope that my message makes a difference even to one person”

The Art of Being oneself
Themes in Art
After seeing the work of three Devon-based expressive artists James Tatum, Mary Gillett and Simon RIbley at the 2015/16 Doddiscombsleigh Arts show the Martin invited the artist to take part in the production of a 30 minute film about their work.
Three main areas of focus are
- Identity
- Meaning
- Process
The project identified thematic similarities and differences. The resulting video is a small insight into the core identity of successful independent artists in Devon.
