Martin is a registered UKCP and HCPC Psychotherapists and Supervisor. He offers individual and couple therapy and works with adults and children. He is a qualified registered Arts Therapist and Psychodramatist who works in a unique systemic way to support a range of problems including relationship difficulties, parenting, loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression, life-stage related problems.
He is trained in the Exeter Model for systemic couple therapy and has provided supervision to NHS staff who use this model in Devon and Cornwall.
Martin has worked as a specialist psychotherapy trainer/presenter for a number of University colleges including Exeter, Bristol, Plymouth and Worcester.
He is currently producing training resources and video podcasts for the NHS, Association of Family Therapy, Journal of Family Therapy and other internationally recognised family therapy practitioners. (See Fast Forward Films on this site). Along with Hannah has been researching and teaching the application of action methods to family systemic practice and supervision.
He has recently returned to private practice following a full-time therapist role for a SouthWest independent fostering organisation, working with schools, CAMHS, local authorities, children and families. In this role he has been helping carers and colleagues to develop parenting skills, understand sexually problematic behaviours, how to manage and understanding self-harm and helping children with bereavement and loss.
Martin has worked with the Ministry of Justice and regional prisons to develop safer custody training materials and won a Princes health award for his work supporting male and female prisoners developing mental health training resources.
Martin is a member of the International Association of Family Therapy.
